6.a) Creating a Community

in 6. Canada's Podcast Community

Tod Maffin receives a lot of credit for connecting Canadian podcasters through his Meet-Ups and CanadaPodcasts.ca.  Maffin, however, feels that he was just one of many who were exited about podcasting and wanted to share that excitement with others.  He’s quick to point out that there were podcasters in every region of Canada reaching out and connecting with others.

Humble though Maffin may be, it was thanks to one of his meet-ups that two of Canada’s most passionate and forward-thinking podcasters met.  Mark Blevis and Bob Goyetche were independent podcasters, both producing a number of podcasts when their paths crossed in Ottawa in June, 2005.

The next time Goyetche and Blevis met was at the Montreal Podcasters Meet-up.  That’s where the seeds for The Canadian Podcast Buffet were planted.

But before we get to that, let’s let Mark explain how his life was put in jeopardy by one of Atlantic Canada’s most popular podcasters…Bruce Murray @ The Montreal Meet-Up
