Online “how-to podcast” resources stared appearing in October 2004. Some articles were published by technology journalists in online magazines and tech forums, but many were posted on blogs and internet chat rooms by the early adopters who were actually testing-out the technology.
Some of the first online “How to” and “DIY” guides included:
- Engadget’s “Engadget Podcast 101 — How-To: Podcasting (get Podcasts and make your own),” by Phillip Torrone, Oct. 5, 2004.
- Engadget’s “HOW-TO: Getting Podcasts on a Portable Media Center (and other Windows Media Devices),” by Phillip Torrone, Oct. 12, 2004.
- “How to Podcast with Blogger and SmartCast,” by Blog.Forret.com, Oct. 30,2004.
- Michael W. Geoghegan’s “Podcast about The Podcast,” Reel Reviews Radio, Dec. 27, 2004.
Books and printed materials about podcasting didn’t hit the shelves until 2005. Some of the earliest included:
Canada’s first podcasting manual: Secrets of Podcasting: audio blogging for the masses by Bart G Farkas. The first edition came out in August 2005, followed by an updated second edition in June 2006.
