Standard 2.2 – Supervision for Learning

The Principal is responsible for providing staff with effective supervision that targets and understanding of students, curriculum, instructional and assessment practices.

TARGET 1: Supervision of Instruction

We worked hard this year to provide support to the teachers that really needed it – whether for planning, management or assessment. Our aim this year was to maintain and grow core quality instruction in the classroom, and good classroom management must be aligned with best practice strategies to support excellent instruction and an engaging learning environment.

Ensuring that varied and authentic assessment strategies, aligned with defined curriculum outcomes, were being used was an on-going challenge in one of the classrooms. Support, modeling and resources are offered where needed, and PD was targeted to identified needs. Teachers, Leadership Team and Board personnel were available to provide co-planning and resource development help.

WE presented a whole day PD session on Assessment for all staff with support from Consultant Jill Taylor who provided some good activities ideas and resources we could use.
