A shift to a new outcomes-driven curriculum prompted the Faculty of Pharmaceutical Sciences to pilot the use of e-portfolios. The e-portfolios provided a framework for students to document their progress and provide a comprehensive assessment framework for evaluating the effectiveness of the new curriculum.

Big thanks to Martha Kinnear, a student from both the first and second year of the Pharmaceutical Sciences e-Portfolio Project, for providing us testimonial and feedback:
In terms of the eportfolio project, I would say it has been a great opportunity to learn the importance of reflection. I am better able to learn from my
mistakes through reflection, and I feel confident in the area of goal setting. The writing exercices were somewhat tedious, however all in all, this experience has been a positive one.
We adopted the student presentation tool in WebCT CE as an e-Portfolio solution for this year’s Pharmacy project. We created a simple index.html as a template so students will have a page to start with. Students were free to change anything on the page. Here is a short report on technical lessons learned from the Pharmacy Project this year (2005).
