Sample Application Package

Below is an application package for the Amazon Propel Program (APP).  This is one example of a career opportunity in tech that excites me.  The resumé and cover letter highlight my suitability for software development while the letters to references demonstrates finesse with professional communications.


Amazon Job Posting (.pdf) – The original job posting on www.amazon.jobs. The Amazon Propel Program is a 12-week software development engineering internships for promising students who are new to the profession. It begins with a 2-week software development crash course and transitions into 10 weeks of work on a software project. Besides a strong academic record, the main criteria are a solid understanding of algorithms, data structures, ,common programming languages, and excellent problem solving skills.


Letters to References (.pdf) – Three letters requesting references for the internship at Amazon.  One is to a professor of virology at the University of Victoria whom I did research with in bioinformatics. The second is to the laboratory manager at YouCount Inc., where I completed my co-op work term at the end of my biochemistry degree. The last letter is to the general manager of incredible home, a closet shop where I used to work part time.


Cover Letter (.pdf) –  The cover letter expresses enthusiasm for the chance to work at Amazon. It points out particular coursework and personal projects that make me an ideal candidate as a compliment to the career history on my resume.


Resumé (.pdf) – A one-page resume targeted toward an internship at Amazon. It outlines the variety of technical work and volunteer experience I have, as well as the software development skills learned during my degree and personal projects.
