After the teacher told me to write a blog about anything relating to marketing, at that moment the World Expo came to my mind. The Expo is actually surrounded by marketing. After long anticipation, the Shanghai World Expo finally opened up in May 1st 2010. Considering all the different countries building different infrastructures in order to introduce tourists to about their country is a sort of marketing. Many of my friends went to the Expo and described that some of the buildings were beautiful but some were just unattractive. Basically each country uses their own marketing skills in order to promote their unique products and innovation and also their tourist attractions. Their logos and mascots are quite important because its part of their marketing strategy.

Expo Logo
Really adorable right? But i still think Quatchi, Miga, Sumi and Muk Muk are STILL THE BEST
A good logo and mascot can definitely help promote the event. For example if you think of our recent Vancouver 2010 Olympics, it was especially successful because of the Inukshuk logo and the four adorable mascots Quatchi, Miga, Sumi and of course sidekick Muk Muk. These mascots and logo gave the Vancouver 2010 Olympic a memory that will last forever. I would say i really like the Expo’s mascot because its really adorable. However i feel the logo lacks a bit of color. I think the target market of the expo would be EVERYONE. Basically its a great family event to attend but also a great place for people to understand different cultures around the world. Too bad i couldn’t this summer. It would have been great to see the different buildings and learn more about other countries in the world. Let me show you some pictures that my friend took for the Expo. ENJOY!
Here’s the building from England:
Doesnt it remind you of a porcupine? Really cute!!
