Gujara : Making a Living

” Gujara: Making a Living explores” the employment experiences of Bhutanese Refugees, admitted to Canada under a special government program. The film focuses on the experience of a young woman caught between the cultural pressures of following her family to the province of Alberta, where well-paid jobs are available in the meat-packing, or staying behind in British Columbia where job opportunities are few but where she has a chance to pursue her own interests. The relationships and tensions between employment, cultural continuity and ‘fitting in’ are captured in this thought-provoking short documentary.”
