Design Considerations

This audio file is the first episode of The Lord of the Rings audio dramatization, created by the BBC and publicly available on the Internet Archive (http://archive.org). It serves as a strong example for undergraduate students in the media studies program, showcasing an audio drama project. Students will first read the corresponding text and then listen to the audio drama based on it. This activity will provide an opportunity for students to analyze the role and impact of sound effects, offering valuable insights into how they can approach and prepare for their own audio drama production project.

While the entire episodes offer a variety of sound effects, the first episode, which lasts 8 minutes and 44 seconds, would be sufficient. The quality and length of the audio are adequate, so no editing is necessary.
