Role of teacher in supporting resilience

Nolan, A., Taket, A., & Stagnitti, K. (2014). Supporting resilience in early years classrooms: the role of the teacher. Teachers and Teaching: theory and practice, 20, 595-608.

This resource will be helpful as I continue to explore my inquiry question. I chose to share this, because it addresses my question very specifically. I ask “How can teachers foster resiliency within the classroom environment?” This article provides insight into the role of the teacher. The article explains why it is important for teachers to aid students in being resilience and the influences this has on student growth. The scholars use a longitudinal study of student and teacher relationships to explain their findings. Through this study, it is argued that positive student and teacher relationships and healthy classroom community allow students to be resilient. As I continue my research, I am curious to find more strategies that teachers can use in the classroom.

One Word

Dynamic collaboration is layered and diverse. While teaching a specific lesson, we often found that if we were teaching math, we were also teaching so much more. Collaboration is working together towards a common goal, however there are multiple ways to get to that goal.
