Hi everyone,
As we discussed during class, we know that segmentation can be based on geographic, demographic, psychographic and product related. We had interesting examples; we talked about iPhone; we related it to psychographic. Class discussion makes me know the concept so much better, and I actually remember the terms easier by recalling the in-class example.
When I went shopping with my mom to pick up a gift for my aunt’s coming birthday. I searched online that Chanel Vitalumiere Aqua Foundation has the colour in 02, but when I went to the actual store, they said they don’t have it in this colour and they offered me a similar one. After I talked with the sales assistant, I know that Chanel has different 6 colour for this foundation for different countries. From that, I recall what we learned in marketing and it is a segmentation strategy based on different demographics. Right!! There won’t be all bright and light skin colours for African countries, and different race people have different skin tones and different skin textures. In order to catch more local customers, Chanel carefully chose the skin colour suits the most of the local people’s skin tones. It is bright!

This is just a simple story, but it makes me think that marketing is everywhere. If I related a lot usual everyday life stories in marketing, there is actual professional way of explain it. I learned not only about segmentation, but it makes me realize I should be more aware of happening around me.
Peace<3
