Current Projects

My current research centres on representations of posthuman subjectivity in contemporary YA fiction. I’m especially interested in the implications for literary form of a shift from liberal humanist models of the self that tend to see people in terms of irreproducible essences to a posthuman model that sees the self as an informational pattern.

I am also planning the 2022 Vancouver International Summer School in Children’s Literature, which will run from June 20-July 2 as part of the Erasmus Mundus Joint International Master Degree in Children’s Literature, Media, and Culture (CLMC) offered by the Universities of Glasgow, Aarhus, Tilburg, and Wroclaw, the Autonomous University of Barcelona, and UBC. The summer school is aimed at CLMC students, but we plan to have some public events. Follow us on twitter at @VancouverLit.
