RHSRNbc Youth Symposium 2024

This year the network plans to host a virtual symposium with a focus on engaging with and empowering rural youth leaders in the face of climate change and ecosystem disruption. A big theme for this symposium is the term solastalgia, which refers to the distress that individuals feel when they witness environmental changes impacting them directly in their home environment. Participants will have an opportunity to connect with likeminded individuals, hear directly from youth who are already making an impact in their communities, and learn actionable items that they can take back to their local contexts as leaders.

This event is open to all ages, but with a particular focus on youth (age 15 – 30), as we discuss the need for bottom-up approaches driven by the cumulative effects of grassroots and local initiatives, in addressing the climate crisis.
