Online shopping is becoming the trend nowadays. After reading Kathy’s post “Are you following the social trends?Buy from an online retailer” , it strucked me that I am officially a devout follower of this new social trend.

As she mentioned, our generation is spending more and more time on social media – we are online every minute we are awake. This also means less time for shopping. Some of the fashion retailers capitalise on this upcoming trend and have gone on the web to sell their products.

The convenience of shopping online has definitely attracted other consumers who might not be a regular shopper to browse through the list of products available. Scrolling through the pages is definitely easier than going through racks and piles of clothes in an actual store.

The first item which I bought online was a book I needed for a research paper. I ordered it on e-bay and a few weeks later, the book was delivered to my house. It was so convenient!

And then the purchase extended to clothes.

My friends were placing orders from a famous Korean online fashion retailers and they were a few dollars short on meeting the minimum amount of $300 to ensure free shipping costs. So they asked me to fill the gap and buy a thing or two from the store. Turns out I bought more than two items;in fact –I bought eight!

I think that’s how it works. You shop online, realise you’re short on the minimum purchase, ask a few friends to fill the gap, they eventually become a regular online shopper and they ask other friends along on their next purchase, and the cycle goes on.

As more and more people are becoming a ‘follower’, online shopping is definitely stepping up as a major social trend.
