Community Achievement Awards
The literary event was held in the Progressive Cultural Center on Aug., 21st, 2012 and awards were presented with an audience of more than 250 people by Dr. Nirmal Singh, Baba Seva Singh ji , Dr. Raghbir Singh Bains, and Harvinder Singh Chahal.
Sarbjit ‘s many contributions to the community have included teaching internet in the local Delta Library, starting poetry program for local poets at the Delta library , helping people to get needed materials from the Asian Library and being an active member of various local organizations.
She also gave an overview about the Asian Library’ especially Punjabi and Hindi Collection and how the Library started collecting Punjabi Canadian authors’ work. She organized “Punjabi Canadian Diaspora Literature Symposium” at the Asian Library UBC.
She says “It wouldn’t be possible for me to involve in these activities – without the support of my family and employers.”
