Hello everyone, I am Haotong Wang, and you can call me Scott. I am a third-year student in BCS program, and it’s my pleasure to join and work with you in this course.

With regard to my academic interest, I am passionate about Artificial intelligence and information security. As you know, AI has filled in almost everywhere in our life; for example, with the self-driving car, we do not need to drive ourselves, and the robot can do some housework for us. Being able to understand how AI works and design an AI product are always my dream in the future. On the other hand, advanced AI techniques cannot survive without security protection. Image if a hacker could hack drone or driverless car easily, it must be a disaster for human. Therefore, information security is also another interest to me, and I am curious how hackers invade various systems and how we can prevent and protect our assets.

In terms of my professional interest, I want to be a software engineer in an IT company because I love designing software such as mobile apps or PC software. I believe a good software product can benefit lots of people, for example, the software we are using in this course, WordPress, can help us design our blog as we want, and Google map can help us navigate anywhere in the world. As a SE, I hope to use my idea to construct a program that brings convenience and comforts to everyone’s daily life. Besides, participating in creating big software a could be a valuable experience for me to design personal product and it is also a golden opportunity to apply what I learn in class.

Overall, I love computer science, and I believe I can utilize the power of knowledge to achieve my goals.
