Who Am I?

Page

I’m Sean, a third-year UBC student pursuing a Bachelor’s Degree in Economics and a Masters of Management Degree at the same time. I enjoy brainstorming, sharing, and learning new ideas.

Moving from the Philippines to Canada helped me find my passion: social justice. Hopefully, through my future career in Economics, I can help reduce (if not eradicate) social injustices in this world.

I love social media. I am almost always on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Snapchat, and Quietly. Combining my love for both social justice and social media, I founded a blog to help new immigrant youth in Vancouver become settled with their lives in this country (go ahead and check the Vancouver Immigrant Youth Blog if you have time!)

On the weekends or whenever I have the time, I binge-watch my favourite TV shows: House of Cards (ahhhhhh best series ever!!), Veep (go Julia Louis-Dreyfus), Game of Thrones, Orphan Black (Tatiana Maslany is out of this world, is she not?), and Suits (Rachel and Mike OTP). I tend to have very strong opinions and violent reactions regarding the plot twists of and character developments in these shows. So if you watch any of the aforementioned shows, I will gladly sit down and talk about them with you.

I like long conversations with friends, walks on the beach, watching the stars at night, and drinking a cup of Starbucks hot chocolate on a cold day.

If you have any questions about me, or my blog posts, do not hesitate to leave a comment or tweet me! 🙂

I found Paper Towns very unpredictable, which is why liked it so much. I have yet to read An Abundance of Katherines, though! It’s the only John Green book that I haven’t read yet. But I’ll probably start reading it soon! 🙂

Hey Sean! I am a student entering grade 12 this coming 2014/2015 year. I am very much interested in the path you took which is UBC’s CAP program, specifically the PPE stream. I am wondering for the Economics Major calculus requirement, do you have to take any further math courses after Math 104/184? Thanks in advance!

      Hi John,

The Bachelor of Arts in Economics requires 6 credits of first-year calculus, which means you would have to take Math 104/184 AND Math 105 (or their equivalent calculus courses). Once you get those 6 calculus credits, you won’t be required to take any more MATH courses. You can check the UBC Academic Calendar if you want to know more about the specific Econ major requirements.

Anyway, so happy to hear that you’re interested in doing the PPE stream! Do not hesitate to ask me if you have any more questions.

      Hi Sarah!

Sorry for the long delay in reply! But I took MATH 105 and the remaining PPE courses (ECON 102, PHIL 102, POLI 101) for term 2 of my first year! If you have any questions don’t hesitate to ask me. I promise I’ll reply faster this time haha!
