Attending the University of British Columbia has been a dream of mine ever since I randomly pointed to it at 8 years old and stated to my family, “This is the school I am going to”.
Ten years later, UBC is now in sight. In less than 24 hours I will begin my first day as a freshman at UBC and the emotions are overwhelming; it is a mixture of excitement and fear.
I have been accepted into the Faculty of Land and Food Systems to study Applied Biology along with a $20,000 scholarship which I am still speechless about, but so thankful since it will help my family a lot.
I am excited about University like any other high school graduate. I am honoured to be attending a school that is world renowned for its high academic standards and outstanding professors. There is also excitement for the little things, such as buying UBC swag (hoodies and shirts) and even the UPass!
