I enjoy teaching at all levels and in a number of fields, but especially in Renaissance poetry. My teaching style is conservative: I prefer to lecture, although I’m always happy to hear what students have to say; I keep the use of the computer to an absolute minimum; and I never assign group work, as I resented it deeply when I was a student.
In the 2023-24 academic year I’ll teach ENGL 100 (Reading and Writing About Literature) and ENGL 491B (an honours seminar on aboutness in lyric poetry) in Term One. In Term Two I’ll teach ENGL 225 (Poetry) and ENGL 349 (17th-Century Literature).
