Way of the future, or not?
Electric cars are the window into our future. Research indicates that in the next 20 years, 1 in 3 British Colombians will be driving electric cars. As it stands now, British Colombians have switched to hybrids at double the rate of the Canadian average. The province of BC is at the forefront of this green revolution. This makes sense as BC has the highest gasoline and lowest electricity prices in North America. In my opinion, these new electric cars are the way of the future not just for those living in BC, but the future for North America. The fact British Colombians are switching to these electric cars proves our ethical views are in the right direction. We are living in a world where the phrase sustainable living has become normalized, so it makes sense on many levels that gasoline powered cars will one day become obsolete. Most of us have a heightened awareness of the environmental issues that are impacting us and our world. Switching over to an electric or hybrid car speaks to the active way we can make a difference by contributing to our lifestyle decisions based on energy saving and our environmental responsibility.
