Curtis has spent the past two summers working as a silviculture temporary staff in the Bulkley Valley for West Fraser Mills Ltd. Born and raised in Calgary Alberta, Curtis learned to fly-fish at a young age on the Bow River. His fascination of coastal rivers and the mighty salmon that swim beneath their surface brought him to British Columbia to study forestry. Following graduation, Curtis will be working for West Fraser Mills Ltd. in Smithers BC.

Bill Wright, Department Manager

Bill’s work experience includes 5 years in aquaculture on Manitoulin Island, Ontario, 12 months of forest engineering in coastal British Columbia, and a summer of silviculture in Northern Ontario. In addition, he is a teaching assistant for an upper-year forest engineering course and a research assistant for the Aboriginal Business Collaborations in Forestry project. Following graduation, Bill will be working as a forest engineer for Chartwell Consultants Ltd. out of North Vancouver on an 8-month contract.

Carl Jefferies, Visual Quality Analyst

Carl has worked as an assistant planner for West Fraser in both Chetwynd and Williams Lake. His work involved reconnaissance, stream assessments, road and block layout and silvicultural duties including planting checks and herbicide layout. Before entering university, Carl has worked for a landscaping company, a nursery, and a Christmas tree farm. Following graduation, Carl will be working for Canfor in Houston, BC.

Taylor Sprangers, Carbon Accountant

Taylor grew up on a farm in South Surrey working through the summers between school. For the past three summers he has been working as a forest technician in the North Okanagan focusing mostly on timber cruising, development, and layout. Following graduation, Taylor will be working for Tolko Industries Ltd. out of Lumby, BC.
