Barcelona Studio

The Barcelona Field Studio is a summer Urban Design studio abroad organized by Dr. Jordi Honey-Rosés at UBC SCARP in partnership with council members from the district of Saint Martí in Barcelona, Spain.

Prior to going to Barcelona, our team conducted a two-day 8 hours long public life observation study on various public space in Vancouver. My small group studied and analyzed the public spaces around Vancouver Public Library Central Branch and produced this presentation showcasing our results.

We spent 15 days in Barcelona and focused on studying the public space and public life in the neighbourhood of Poblenou. During our time there, we conducted a four-day 16 hours long public life observation study in addition to policy research and coming up with urban design interventions. By the end of this project our team presented research findings and urban design recommendations to the council members of the District of Saint Martí. A detailed report was also compiled into a book and published under the UBC library’s open collections.
