My research focuses on fieldwork in the Interior of British Columbia, where I work with speakers of Indigenous languages that are still largely under-documented, especially when it comes to syntax and semantics. Since there’s only a limited amount of time left to work closely with fluent first-language speakers, this work feels both important and urgent. It’s not just about documentation; it also plays a role in supporting language revitalization and helping develop strong teaching programs for future generations of speakers. I’m part of a larger team of researchers and community members working together on these shared goals.
- Nłab: Together with Danica Reid, I co-manage the Nłab, which is actively conducting fieldwork with fluent speakers of nłeʔkepmxcín, working on documentation, analysis, and pedagogy.
- Secwepemctsín Research Group: I am the manager of the Secwepemctsín Research Group, and we work with fluent speakers of Secwepemctsín, on a variety of projects mainly centred around documentation and analysis.
