My hope is that after doing the research and delving into the question. That I might find a way in which to incorporate competition in the classroom in a way that it does not become an anti-motivator. If as an educator I am not able to use competition to motivate each and every one of my students that’s great and would be a fantastic outcome. The issue is in making sure that competition never becomes a demotivation for students. If I can in fact find a way of make sure that this is prevented in my classroom I think I will have been hugely successful.
The key will be having a collaborative classroom environment where competition becomes fun. Where the competition is enjoyable win or lose. Being competitive or involved in a classroom competition becomes its own reward.
