More details about the on-campus venue will be provided closer to the conference dates. Please find general details about the conference location below.
Getting to UBC from the airport
By public transit
There is a SkyTrain stop at the airport. You can take the Canada Line from there to the Broadway-City Hall stop and then take the 99 express bus directly to campus. This will cost a total of 8.20CAD, or you can buy an unlimited-use day pass for 11.95CAD.
By car
To get to UBC from the airport, cross the Arthur Laing bridge and then head west on SW Marine Drive. Parking at UBC is plentiful but not free; you can find a map of UBC parkades online, as well as up-to-date information about available space at parking lots and hourly parking rates.
Getting to UBC from downtown Vancouver
UBC’s campus is not in, or even particularly close to, downtown Vancouver. It takes about 40 minutes to an hour on public transit, or about 30 minutes by car.
By public transit
Unfortunately, the Skytrain does not run to UBC, but many buses do. Bus fare is 3.35CAD, and they take exact change or credit card (tap only). You can also buy an unlimited-use day pass for 11.95CAD.
By car
To get to UBC from downtown, drive across the Burrard or Granville bridge, and then head west on West 4th Avenue and continue through Pacific Spirit Park until you get to campus. Parking at UBC is plentiful but not free; you can find a map of UBC parkades online, as well as up-to-date information about available space at parking lots and hourly parking rates.
By rideshare/taxi
Uber and Lyft are available in Vancouver, and taxis are also widely available and relatively well-priced.
Getting around UBC
UBC is very pedestrian- and cyclist-friendly; however, it is also rather large. Walking from the bus loop to the linguistics department building takes around 20-30 minutes. If you’d prefer to cycle, there is a bike share program on campus.
If you have a temporary or permanent condition that limits your mobility, the Accessibility Shuttle can help you get around areas of campus that can only be reached on foot. The shuttle is a free, shared-ride service; you can book up to three trips a day. Each building in the service area is within 100 meters of a shuttle stop. The shuttle is available on weekdays only, and you must book in advance by calling +1 604 822 9929.
There are also two campus shuttles, the 68 and the 70, but they don’t run very frequently (roughly every 20 minutes).
