Business Ethics

Water is a necessity for all human beings. Everyone must drink water, but can we use groundwater freely, can a company (Nestle Water Canada) withdraw water for free and sell back to resistance? The answer is YES, B.C. government, as the only jurisdiction in Canada, allows this. I’m sure that a lot of people might feel that the company cannot do this, and Nestle has no business ethics. I think they only pay attention to the use of free groundwater, Nestle earns supernormal profit, but ignore the Nestle has provided us with bottled water with support our to survival. Besides, Nestle is one of the largest employers in the District of Hope. It provides jobs for local people, which reduce the unemployment rate. Nestle also records the quality water, the map of the underground water resources in the area made by Nestle exceeds what government scientists have done. According to the stakeholder theory, manager needs to consider employees, customers, suppliers, financier, communities, government bodies, political group, trade association and trade unions while making a decision. I think if the government mandatory charges on Nestle charges, which will only increase the price of water, and lead to inflation, or Nestle lay off employees. It is not a wise decision, so I think it is why government allows Nestle use groundwater freely for years.
