Bio

I am a 4th Year Bachelor of Computer Science student who is in my final semester at UBC. My previous degree was in Philosophy where I developed an interest in logic philosophy as well as the theory of computing. Some of specific interests include Turing machines, complexity classes and quantum computers. I also have an interest in how developments in technology, such as artificial intelligence and virtual reality, have an effect on society. As I hope my career will allow me to talk and write about technology, I’m looking forward to how this class can improve my technical communication skills.

I’m currently in the process of looking for a tech job (so if anybody knows of anything let me know), but I do currently have a part-time/summer job as a groundskeeper at Shaughnessy Golf & Country Club. It’s a rather beautiful place and on the nice days it’s quite wonderful to mow the lawns while listening to audio-books and looking at the beautiful views. I am also developing a virtual reality video game based on my job which I call Golf Course Manager VR. If you ever want to give it a try, just let me know.

I’m also a member of the UBC Debate Team, and have participated in a number of competitive debate tournaments across North America. I have found that this club has greatly improved my communication and critical thinking skills. If anyone is interested in joining a new club at UBC it’s one that I definitely highly recommend. I also play seeker for the UBC Quidditch team, just because it’s fun to catch snitches every now and again.

I’m very much looking forward to taking the course, especially because it is very relevant to my life as I am hopefully just about to start my career. I am also very passionate about communicating about technology and this class seems tailored to help me improve in exactly that!
