When? Friday April 10th
Start time: 5:30pm
Format: 5 min/game; Single or Double round-robin depending on the number of players
Sections: There will be two sections an advanced and an intermediate section.
Location : The room is still to be determined. I’ll post it once I have a room for the event.
The Chess Club’s weekly meeting will be canceled on April 3rd for Good Friday. See you next week!
We are now halfway through the term and I know you were awaiting that moment impatiently. Here it is. The Chess Club will be holding it’s usual midterm Pizza Party! You get Free food and beverages while playing chess. Stoked? This will be happening next week, Friday February 27th. Make sure to come by.
It is reading week, which means you get a week-long break from your classes. However, there is no such thing as taking a week-long break from chess. We will still be meeting Friday, February 20th from 5pm to 8pm in room 206 of the SUB.
Now that the midterms are over, let’s celebrate on Friday night! Chess boards and free food in the form of pizzas will await you in the SUB room 206 at 5pm.
We had a lot of people showing up at the booth for Club’s days and I added all the emails I was given to our mailing list. However, some emails were not obvious to read and I might have gotten some wrong. I sent an email to all of those who signed up during Clubs Day, so if you have not received a message from me, please send us a message at chess.ubc@gmail.com so I can correct your email address in our mailing list.

There has been a modification in the room allocation. The upcoming meetings for term 1 will be held in room 206 of the SUB. Please take note of the changes.
Make note that our meetings for July 25th and August 1st will be held in room 212 of the SUB instead of our usual room.
On August 8th, we will have no room booked as a “commercial booking” has bumped us out of room 215 that day. Chess Club will still be happening though. We will be meeting in the basement of the Irving K Barber library and find an empty room there to play some chess.
Do not forget to tune in the super-tournament Norway Chess 2014 for the remaining rounds.
