Watching this strangely insightful interview with Louis CK provided me motivation and inspiration to write this post:
In my personal life, I know I have complained about my smartphone because it was laggy at times. I have been fortunate to grow up in a generation with amazing technology, and live among amazing individuals like Steve Jobs and Randy Pausch. I live in a world where I can order a latte directly through my phone, where I no longer need this to take a photo after the break:
I only let you take 24 photos before you swap me out. I’m high maintenance like that.

and had to pray my photos turned out okay. Now, I can take over 9000 photos and preview a photo right after taking it. We use to need a phone book to find a business’ number, and it use to be impossible to connect with a friend you hadn’t seen in a while unless you already had their number written down. And if you forget their number, good luck contacting them. Now social media is at our fingertips. We can search on Facebook and reconnect with anyone. Unless you were searching Facebook for a Chris Chan, or Jennifer Wong, or “insert massively common Chinese name” in which case, I feel for you. You use to need a mapbook to figure out how to get somewhere. Nowadays, we have GPS on our phone.
Despite all this, we still find things to complain about.
I once read a quote that went something like “A person who is unable to appreciate and be grateful about the small things in life has not been touched by life”
I hope we can all reflect on the simple things in life everyday, and look at all the amazing things we take for granted. Only then will we realize the minuteness of our problems.
Thanks so much for sharing this awesome info! I am looking forward to see more postsby you!
