Sophia was born and raised in Nanaimo, BC, where she has always known she wanted to pursue the natural sciences. She completed her Hons. BSc degree at the University of Toronto in 2021, specializing in Ecology & Evolutionary Biology and Biodiversity & Conservation Biology. During that time, she worked on projects in plant ecology and evolution, agricultural pollination ecology, and leech taxonomy. Her favourite bee is the Milwaukee miner bee, Andrena milwaukeensis, and in her spare time she likes to play ultimate frisbee, watch period dramas, and hang out with her 11 year-old cat, Susan!
