Week Six- Comodity Training

This last week I just went short in three september 2016 contracts of wheat. I had made some profit there, so I will go long soon so I can keep my margin.  I also have opened possitions at orange juice wich price increase sudenly since the last days, Ethanol that have been stable and sugar wich is decreasing and have some losts there.

This week I will offset all my positions cause it is the last week trading.  At the moment I am in postion number 9 from the general ranking.

Week Five Future Trading

Last week hadn’t done so much at the market trading. I went long with some contracts of oats, cocoa and ethanol. Also short with cocoa, coffee and sugar because was loosing to much money.  Instead of what i have done, my position is not good. I still doing a little bit profit but it is diminishing.

At this moment I have some short positions on oats, soybeans and wheat for july and september 2016, I hope to earn some profit there.

Forecast for grains are not good for the next days.  Some reports from USDA and Barchart predict price decreasing. The future contracts of wheat, soybeans meal and corn have negative returns for 2015 and 2016 so I hadnt buy anything.

My actual position on the general ranking is 9 and I only have 6% of proffit. Hope this week I can improve it.

Fourth Week Comodity Trading

This last week was not my week. After being in a very good position in the general ranking, I felt to position number 7.

Firstable, the prices of all the comodities I was long, as orange juice, lumber, cattle, and oats fell sharply from one day to other.

On thursday night I went long in 10 contracts of sugar because the forecasts were positive. However, in one night all the prices felt down and I lost almost 15% of my earnings.

On friday morning my profit was 11% of 25%. My strategy there was to go short in all the contracts.

By that time it was imposible to buy any comodity because all prices were going down. I checked the reports of nasdaq, barchart and the forecasting were very similar. At this moment I have bought some oats contracts so my profit stay stable but I am wining just a little percentage.

Third week commodity traiding

After having being trading more than thee weeks, in the last one I have obtained better results.  In this case I decided to diversify my portfolio and buy different commodities as cattle, orange juice and cotton, cause their tendency is going upwards and their prices hadnt been so volatily lately.  I went long in 5 contracts for 2015 and 2016.

I went short in my contracts of cocoa and coffee because the prices felt down so quickly and lost money just in one night.  Took this decision have helped me to stay in a good position of the ranking.

My sources were barchart card and nasdaq.

Second Week, Comodity trading

During this second week tradding has been an  enriching experience.  Fisrtable, my possition in the class ranking is so much better now than the last week (8). To accomplish it, I have used some estrategies:

Reviewing the different comodity prices, I have realize that coffee contracts, specially those for the 2016, suffer a significantly decrease. During monday and tuesday all the contracts were falling down and I started to loose. However, I decided to wait a little bit and the next days prices achieve their normal values and better than that, start increasing. By this day, the most profitability contracts are those for september 2016 (3.10%).

Second, I bought some limber contracts because its price is increasing day by day.  The most profitable are those for november and october 2015 (6.90% and 5.90% respectively)  so i bought 3 of them.

My other comodities contracts are increasing too (soybeans and cattle), so I contunue following up different web sites as Barchart and Nasdaq.  I think cattle had been my best decision this week, because in the last four months the prices had increase in at least 3% and some of them continue going up.

First Trading experience

Hi everybody!

Last week was my first week trading.

At the begining it was weird for me to understand how this market works…but now it makes sence for me. I feel quiet excited because I started winning today..instead in ranking I was loosing when the market close.

I went long with four contracts, bought two contracts of wheat and two contracts of maize, for december 2015 and 2016 respectively.  I decided to bought those commodities after checking the web page of nasdaq commodity prices for the last 4 months and last week prices so I can have a general idea about prices in the global market. Today the wheat price increase so I went short and selled it. Win a little bit of money.

For maize prices, I checked  Barchart web page (http://www.barchart.com/commodityfutures/Corn_Futures/ZCN0) and realize that prices have been going down in the last few days, however the trend of the last 4 months is upward so I took the risk and bougth the contracts. Today prices start increasing little bit, so I will keep it until I can get a better profit.

At this´point I am recovering and my position is 14 in the class. Yesterday I was 24 so I think I am doing well. What I have learnt this first week is to be always alert of the prices in the market so I cant loose good oportunities!.
