Welcome to Waterscapes!

Welcome to the Waterscapes Blog. This blog is part of a three-year project funded by a Research/Creation grant from the Social Sciences Humanities Research Council of Canada that investigates Chinese migrations in a comparative and transnational framework. Focusing on the Yangzi and Fraser Rivers, Waterscapes includes visual arts, community-based and academic research, and public programming at various locations in China and Canada. The project a team of faculty and students from the University of British Columbia led by Professors Gu Xiong (Art HIstory-Visual Art-Theory, primary investigator), Jennifer Chun (Sociology, co-investigator) and Chris Lee (English, co-investigator). During Summer 2009, this blog will be used to record the team’s activities as they travel to various sites in preparation for the full launch of the project this fall.
