Relaxation Stations

We know conferences sometimes can be overwhelming.  Sometimes you need time to relax, sit down, de-stress, or simply chat with some of the people you will meet while here.

The Relaxation Stations are 4 rooms set-up to provide you with a space to, well, to do everything mentioned above! The rooms are located next to the refreshment break area and will be open for the duration of the conference.

What do the rooms offer?  Find out below.

Colour Our Collection (Rm 263)

According to Marygrace Berberian, a certified art therapist and the Clinical Assistant Professor and Program Coordinator for the Graduate Art Therapy Program at NYU

My experience has been that those participants who are more guarded find a lot of tranquility in coloring an image. (Why Adult Colouring Books are Good for You?)

In partnership with Rare Books and Special Collections, we have pulled together a selection of images from the Alice 100 collection for you to individually or group colour. The pages will be in both small and mural format!  Sit down and express yourself or colour the “walls” with a friend!

Level Up! (Rm 264)

In partnership with the UBC Bookstore, we have pulled together a selection of simple games to help you get to know each other in a fun and low key way.  Select a game and partner up with fellow conference goers to see who is the quickest at creating words, recognizing a common bond between different items, and much more!

Puzzles of images from Rare Books and Special Collections will also be available!

The Reading Room (Rm 265)

Love Of Books

No relaxation space could be without our favourite “chill out” items – books!  The Book Room will offer all things book related.  Share your favourite literary quote on the card catalogue wall, guess famous lines from banned books, or simply sit back and read from a selection of books in the room.

Zen Out (Rm 266)

Shenandoah Zen

In need of a quieter comfortable space to reflect?  The Zen Out room is the space for you!  With comfortable seating and gentle music playing in the background, this room offers you the much needed down-time from a busy conference.  If you are in the Zen Out room, please know that it is meant as a quieter space. Talking and technology are discouraged.
