Business ethic

I feel that business ethic is essential to a company. When a firm is formed, it should take responsibility for its effects on society. The corporate executive should not only think about their profit but also respect and protect every member in society, especially vulnerable groups such as children, women and senior citizens, as well as to protect the environment. Take the incident of the Chinese milk powder as an example. In 2008, the company called Sanlu added the toxic material, melamine, to the production of milk powders in order to improve the content of protein. Consequently, it endangered the lives of 10000 children as kidney stones were discovered after consumption of the milk powder. Evidently, Sanlu violated basic business ethics because they endangered the lives of innocent children. Therefore, they must be responsible for their irresponsible behavior and should not be allowed to do business in the future. As such, I believe that business ethic is critical in the success of a firm and should not be taken lightly.
