FREITAG – missing the opportunity

September 22nd, 2010 · No Comments

FREITAG is a European bag company (headquaters in Zurich, Swizerland).

But they are so much more than just a bag company – they make bags from recycled material! One of the most appealing advantages their products have is the style and color of their designs. They are NOT boring and dull bags that have a print “I am Green” on them. Those bags are full of color (sometimes even too bright for me) and coolness!

You can read more on FREITAG history and concept at http://www.freitag.ch/shop/FREITAG/page/inside_page/detail.jsf

I love this brand! But, am a bit disappointed by their activity (or rather inactivity). While they are BIG in Europe, they are not trying to expand their market to the North America (perhaps to Asia as well). Furthermore, the seem not to invest much into advertisement campaigns – I could hardly find any! (well, it could be due to my poor German and inability to access German search engines, but google provided very poor results).

I did manage to find one that was interesting. This campaign tells the entire concept of FREITAG and what materials they use to create their bags. (link: http://www.diegoulrich.com/89freitag.html)

Here is one picture from this campaign:

SO, my concern is: WHY aren’t they grasping the current global “obsession” with Eco-friendly and Green?? I’m sure there  are eco-lovers who would love to make their statements about recycling by wearing a stylish colorful bag like this:

I’m sure I would!
