During this task, I wrote out some streams of consciousness of thoughts I was having over the weekend about Trump’s first few days in office. I usually type out all assignments and even journal on my phone sometimes so this task ended up being more difficult than I thought. Separate from the manual physical labor of writing which was just tedious – articulating my thoughts from front to end manually was so much more difficult than on a computer as I couldn’t move anything around to make my thoughts more organized. I started the entry by speaking about perception and media and then really pivoted to talking about my experiences online with media. In a electronic entry, I would have moved parts around by now to stay more focused for my audience, this format made that so difficult. I really prefer writing electronically when I am speaking to an audience – this format allows for easier editing and reorganizing. I am considering journaling by hand after this experience, I felt that reading back through my entry, I found it interesting to track my thought pattern throughout the page and see what thoughts led me to a different area. Since my purpose of journaling is to unwind and also to see my thoughts throughout a period of time, the manual task seems better suited to this.
