Lab 2 Instructions

The purpose of Lab 2 is to further introduce you to ArcGIS Pro and Notebooks.  In particular, in this lab you will go through an ESRI tutorial on linguistic diversity in Edmonton and then conduct a similar analysis for Metro Vancouver, but using Python to help process the data.

———————————————————————————————————————————
I placed the Lab 2 . ZIP on the Canvas site. It has been placed in the Files tab on Canvas. If you are already logged onto Canvas the file should just download to your computer.
———————————————————————————————————————————

Unzip the file contents into C:\temp\G370, a directory called Lab2 should appear with several files and subdirectories inside the Lab 2 folder. For the purposes of this lab you only need the Lab2.APRX file to begin with, but you should keep all of the files and directories together in order to complete the lab.

As noted above, this lab is comprised of two components. In the first you will go through a tutorial / workflow provided by ESRI (here) and produce a language diversity hotspot map. In the second part you will download some Census data from CHASS, manipulate that data using some Python code (provided to you), and then produce a language diversity map for Metro Vancouver.

Don’t forget about the open Notebook bug in ArcGIS Pro (e.g., if saved in an open state they may fail to load in a subsequent session.

Further instructions to be added if bugs are encountered in the instructions.
