Tuition

International Students admitted into the UBC MBA Program received an acceptance letter with an estimated tuition amount of $47,472.00.  This amount was based on an anticipated UBC annual increase of 2% in 2011. This increase never came about, resulting in program tuition of $46,541.00 for International Students admitted in 2011.

This has caused some confusion – we would like to clarify that the UBC system is correct and International Students are only being charged the lower tuition amount.

**Please note: The 2% increase was projected for International Students (here on a Student Visa) only and does not affect Domestic Students.

Every year before students are admitted, an estimated tuition breakdown is posted on the Sauder website and the UBC website.  These fees may be adjusted by the University at any time with limited notice.

Click here for tuition information on the Sauder website.
Click here for tuition information on the UBC website.

Tuition Due Dates

For all Full-Time MBA students (both International and Domestic), your final tuition installment is due by no later than September 5th, 2012.

NOTE: As usual, in addition to your tuition, there will also be student-levied fees charged by UBC for each installment. The exact amount of tuition and student-levied fees as well as payment deadline will appear on the Student Service Centre prior to each month that tuition is due.

Information on tuition can also be found on your Vista site under the “Preparation & General Program Information” folder.

Construction in RHL Wing – starting Friday May 11th

As part of our commitment to ensuring you have quality classrooms to learn in we are refurbishing two classrooms in the RHL Wing for September: DL 125 and HA 133.

In order to be able to complete this work in time for September Period 5, our construction crews need to begin their work on Friday May 11th. This means that all classes currently taking place in HA 132, HA 133 and DL 125 will need to move out of the RHL Wing and into different classrooms. You will continue to have access to the Graduate Breakout Rooms, however the bathrooms next to the DL 125 amphitheatre will be blocked off to enable safe construction crew access to the theatre.

We realize that this isn’t great timing for you as you complete your Period 3 studies, but we aren’t able to delay the construction any longer or it won’t be ready for September. With many more students in the building in September it will be much more difficult to find alternate space to move classes to, so we ask for your understanding in this matter.

Here is thePeriod 3 Schedule – Revised Classrooms with the new classroom allocations that will be in effect as of Friday May 11th. So you will continue to be in your regular classrooms until next Thursday, and then will need to navigate to the new classrooms as of Friday May 11th.

Thank you all very much for your patience with this project, and we apologize for the inconvenience – renovating it now means that you will have nicer classroom space for September.

If you have any questions or concerns please contact Theresa Scott: theresa.scott@sauder.ubc.ca

MBA-CMA Combined Program – change to requirements

We were recently notified by the CMA that, effective for the January 2013 CMA Entry, they have introduced a new requirement for students to have completed a course in Business Law.

BALA 503 Commercial Law in the UBC MBA program will be accepted as an equivalent for this requirement, and if you have taken a Business Law course in your undergraduate degree you can ask the CMA to check if it would qualify as an equivalent as well.

We were only notified of this change last month, and realize that BALA 503 has already taken place in your program. Happily there is another option, which is to take Business Law by CMA self-study. This is a self-study guide that you can purchase through CMABC – the cost is $39.20. They don’t administer exams for these self-study packs – you are given credit for the topic upon purchase of the self-study guide. So if you are planning to complete your CMA requirements and haven’t taken BALA 503 you can purchase the self-study guide instead.

If you have any questions about completing your combined MBA-CMA please contact Theresa Scott at theresa.scott@sauder.ubc.ca
