Exemption Exams

Exemption exams will be available to be written on Sunday, November 13, 2011 in five basic pre-requisite modules to students who believe they have sufficient prior academic knowledge.  The five modules are:

  1.  BAAC  500       Financial Reporting
  2. BABS    500       Applied Business Statistics I
  3. BAFI     500       Corporate Finance
  4. BAFI     511       Investments
  5. BAPA   500       Managerial Economics

Students wishing to take one or more of the above noted exemption exams are required to sign up by Wednesday, October 26, 2011. The application form and exemption exam policy are can be found on the Sauder Masters Workshops – 2011 Part-Time MBA Vista site under: Homepage>Program Policies.  Completed applications should be submitted to askmba@sauer.ubc.ca.

Exemption exams may be taken in each of these modules and all students are eligible to write any of these examinations.  The purpose of the exemption exams is to ensure that individuals have the knowledge and skill equivalent to students who successfully complete these modules.  Students who achieve 68% or higher on an exemption exam will have the course recorded on their transcript but will not be given credit for the module.  They will need to take an alternative elective module of their choice.

We recommend that students with prior academic background in these areas write the exemption exams.
