Dear MBA Students,

On behalf of the Development and Alumni Engagement office and the entire Sauder alumni community, I would like to extend a warm welcome back to returning students, and a huge welcome to all transfers and first year students! We are happy to have all of you back on campus for the 2012/2013 school year.

To celebrate the beginning of a new academic year, the Development and Alumni Engagement Office and representatives from the Sauder alumni community invite you to join us at the “Alumni Cares Lounge” in the CA Hall on September 5 from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. Please come by and enjoy complimentary refreshments and goodies to energize you for the first week of classes.

We hope you’ll stop by to meet our staff, engage with alumni, and learn more about alumni events and initiatives that will benefit you in the upcoming year!

Whether or not you’re able to join us on September 5, on behalf of our office, the alumni community, and everyone at Sauder, we wish you a great and successful year ahead.

Strategic Management Specialization – additions to electives lists

Two modules have been added to the electives list for the Strategic Management Specialization requirements.

  • BAMS 580C Managerial Decision Modeling & Analytics  – added to the Strategic Analysis list
  • BASD 580D Corporate Sustainability Applied – added to the Business Environment list

If you are planning to achieve the Strategic Management Specialization, you may want to review your registration choices in light of these changes.

IFLA 2012 – India’s prestigious International B School competition

You will be pleased to know that Businessworld – India’s best selling business weekly is inviting participation from full time students of post-graduate management programmes across Indian and International B-Schools to participate in the prestigious international open paper writing competition entitled the INFOCOM FUTURE LEADERSHIP AWARDS (IFLA) 2012, now in it’s seventh edition of the event.

The Grand Prize for the competition is USD 4000 and there are other cash prizes for the second, third, fourth, fifth and sixth entries. The Top 15 papers will also be published in the form of a compendium and the six winners will get an all-expenses paid trip to Calcutta, India for receiving the awards.

We seek your help in organising participation from the interested students at your institute. All details are available in the enclosed files.

NUS Cerebration 2012 – Business Case Competition

Cerebration is the largest business case competition for MBA students with over 500 teams from all over the world signing up for the previous years’ event.

Registrations for the event opens on July 24, 2012 and the deadline for submission of the executive summary allotted to the participants (teams of 2-3 individuals, multiple teams allowed per school) is August 24, 2012. 

Cerebration 2012 would culminate with the Grand Finale in Singapore on November 2, 2012. The 6 top teams from the initial rounds would be flown all expenses paid to Singapore to compete in the Grand Finale.
