Abbreviations – a list

I will edit this list as necessary over the course of the term.

PGM = Papyrae Graecae Magicae = Greek Magical Papyri. This is a collection of magical texts from Graeco-Roman Egypt inĀ  (mainly) ancient Greek. Of all the easily available introduction to this collection and its history, I think the Wikipedia entry is best, although it pains me to say it.

Here is a handy list of the spells and what they cover from the collection edited by Hans Betz (1992).
