Radiolabeling Nucleic Acids with medical isotopes

Can DNA carry medical radiometals, like small molecules, peptides, and antibodies? Using DNA polymerase, we enzymatically incorporate metal-conjugated building blocks (dNTPs) in < 10 min: programmable sequences define loading of imaging or therapeutic radioisotopes on demand.

10 g+ Production of Cancer Imaging Chemistry Building Block, AMBF₃-Abu-OK

We made a cancer-detecting chemical in scales 20× larger than previous attempts. This building block allows versatile development of peptide-based PET tracers that locates tumors for diagnosis: now manufacturable with greener and safer conditions.

RECENT UPDATE

Appointed as instructor, my interdisciplinary design team of 26 undergraduates won 4 achievements in the iGEM 2024 competition. Our team prototyped a compact, durable, and energy efficient data storage platform nuCloud inspired by nature’s inheritance system – DNA.
