Introduction
This lesson will guide you through the process of selecting your concentration portfolio theme and assist you in preparing an initial written statement to accompany the visual pieces you will be completing during the concentration unit.
After reviewing the sample portfolios (below) complete the tasks that follow. Note that each task is more fully described on the individual pages provided. Use the tabs above to navigate from task to task.
Tasks:
- Review the criteria for your concentration portfolio.
- Brainstorm – Work with a partner to brainstorm ideas for a concentration (each person will choose his/her own topic or theme). Refer to your Breadth Portfolio for ideas and the Concentration Portfolio guides.
- Critique Ideas – Be sure that you answer, “What is my theme and how can I demonstrate an exploration of this theme?” Post your concentration idea then respond to at least two of your classmates’ posts by asking questions and/or making suggestions.
- Write – Complete a first draft of your concentration statement.
