The Innovative Learning Centre (ILC) was officially approved September 19, 2012 by the Provost of the University of British Columbia, Okanagan Campus, Professor Wes Pue. The ILC must be managed and governed in accordance with UBC policy without any presupposition as to which outside partnerships or funding streams may develop.
The concept was conceived December 2011 by Dr. Susan Crichton, the ILC’s founding director, and Dr. Lynn Bosetti, the Dean of the Faculty of Education. The goal of the ILC is to provide appropriate tools and spaces for educators, entrepreneurs, dreamers and tinkers to imagine and explore innovations in teaching and learning. It will engage the UBC community – both town and gown, in all aspects of innovative pedagogy, supporting economic growth in the region, and continuing to advance the proven accomplishments of K-20 educators who work and live outside the lower mainland.
This resource is provided to help you host your own Maker Day. The materials were developed by the Innovative Learning Centre
(ILC) at the Faculty of Education, University of British Columbia Okanagan Campus. They were initially tested at Maker Day 2013 where 80 educators gathered to experience Making. The day would not have been possible without the generous and helpful support for Industry Training Authority (ITA) and the Women In Trades Program at Okanagan College. We welcome all feedback and suggestions for improvement. Please let us know how your Maker event goes and whether other resources
are needed.

This looks very promising. I’ll have to drop-in for a coffee and check out the new Learning Centre 🙂
