Welcome School District Leads!

Thank you for leading the CHEQ project for your district. The information you help collect provides the first insights for your district and community into the group of children entering kindergarten. This data can be used to help guide evidence-based decision-making to improve initiatives for children and families. We want to express our sincerest gratitude for your commitment to supporting CHEQ Leaders in making sure we hear from as many parents/caregivers as we can. This would not be possible without your dedication during an already busy time of year.

CHEQ School District Lead Guide

To administer the CHEQ in your school district, please follow the steps below:

Print/Download the School District Lead Checklist

Spring

  • Send School Administrators and Teachers information about the CHEQ project.
  • Support schools with incorporating the CHEQ into their Gradual Entry plan.
  • Share CHEQ resources to be integrated with Welcome to K communication plans with CHEQ Leaders.
  • Determine who your CHEQ Leaders are by school and share the CHEQ Leader Track Sheet with HELP by the end of August.
  • Return signed agreements to HELP by Friday May 30th.
  • Log into the CHEQ e-System (you will receive a log in link on August 25th)
  • Encourage CHEQ Leaders to share reports with Teachers through the e-System. CHEQ Leaders can easily share reports by following the steps found here.

Tuesday, September 2, 2025 – Administration Begins

  • Support CHEQ Administration in schools as necessary.
  • Monitor CHEQ completions and follow up with CHEQ Leaders who have low completion percentages.
  • Encourage CHEQ Leaders to share reports with Teachers through the e-System

Fall

  • Support schools with incorporating the CHEQ into their Gradual Entry plan
  • Continue to support CHEQ Administration in schools as necessary
  • Monitor CHEQ completions and follow up with CHEQ Leaders who have low completion percentages.
  • Review your reports in the CHEQ e-System and share these with your district and community partners.

Friday, October 31, 2025 – Administration Ends

  • Consider hosting a session with CHEQ Leaders, Kindergarten teachers, and/or community partners to review your CHEQ results.
