February thank you; Looking forward to March & April

Thanks for a fun reading group on February 15th. It was certainly enlivening to unpack the article:
Alex Kudryavtsev , Richard C. Stedman & Marianne E. Krasny (2012) Sense of place in environmental education, Environmental Education Research, 18:2, 229-250, DOI: 10.1080/13504622.2011.609615
Sorry that I forgot to post an announcement about it on the blog.

Next reading group is Wednesday, March 8, 1PM-2PM, SCARFE GARDEN (Southwest side of the building)
This gathering is designed to be accessible to B.Ed. students, as it is during their lunch hour and adjacent to where classes are held. This is to help them see that outdoor learning and teaching can be a part of their repertoire. On the verge of their upcoming practica, we hope that this group might be a source of inspiration. Please share with any B.Ed. candidates you know.
We’ll try a new format this time as well. To enrich the discussion, there are four resources from which to draw. Please read one of the following articles and/or watch one of the following videos:
Pijanowski, B. C., Villanueva-Rivera, L. J., Dumyahn, S. L., Farina, A., Krause, B. L., Napoletano, B. M., … & Pieretti, N. (2011). Soundscape ecology: the science of sound in the landscape. BioScience, 61(3), 203-216
Schafer, R. M., & James, E. (2014). Eco-Theatre. PAJ_ A Journal of Performance and Art, 36(1), 35-44
Bernie Krause (2013) The voice of the natural world (14min48sec) for accompanying our readings.

The following reading group will be Monday evening, April 10. The location and article(s) are still TBD up but plan for 6:30-8:00pm, in an accessible Vancouver location, perhaps near Main Street. In this manner, we hope that practitioners who work during the day may have access to participate in the rich discussions that the articles have often prompted. It will be a good networking opportunity as well to connect with educators, parents, and others who are interested in Outdoor Learning and Early Childhood Education. Again, please share this save-the-date with anyone you think may be interested.
Thanks so much!
