June 21st (Wedensday) Reading Group Meeting!

Posted by in Uncategorized

Hi everyone,

We had a great time at Terra Nova Nature School in Richmond for our last reading group meeting. Thank you Kate for hosting us. What a neat area you and the kids get to know! And what a nice conversation we had as we explored the notion of building environmental identity.

We’ll be walking  for our next gathering 🙂 We’re meeting on Wednesday, June 21st from 11:00am-12:30pm, at UBC. We’ll get together at the garden behind Scarfe (Fac. of Ed). Then we’ll go on a walk to discuss the article:

Ingold, T., & Vergunst, J. L. (2008). Introduction. In Ways of Walking: Ethnography and Practice on Foot (pp. 1–19). Burlington, VT: Ashgate Publishing, Ltd.

Since the reading is about walking, we thought it might make sense to walk and talk. As always, if you need help finding the article, please ask.

This will be our last gathering for the school year. See you on the 21st or next school year!

Ecopoetics in the Garden is the first in a series of gatherings intended to catalyze a research cluster of likeminded individuals across disciplines and educational settings to consider the possibilities of renewing our commitment to land-based ecology and environmental education through a multiple literacies lens. We hope to develop collaborations that we can build upon for future initiatives involving ecology and arts-based practices.
