COMM 296: Intro to Marketing - Sec 202

Hi Everyone,

Here’s what I will be evaluating in your presentations this week:

• Content: whether you have included all of the information required, logical arguments, authentic facts to support your recommendations, implications of your recommendations, content in your responses to questions, etc.
• Style: voice projection, clarity of speech, eye contact with the audience (vs. reading heavily from notes), memorable conclusion, handling of questions, etc.
• Time management: within time limits, appropriate use of time for part A vs B
• Use of media: polished and proofed slides, smooth transitions between sections, media that support (vs. distract from) your speaking, etc.

Content and style will be weighted most heavily.

Reminders:

There will be a grading form for ALL students to fill out in class during the presentations, including what grade you recommend each team should receive!

There were questions for you to address in the Assignment Outline word document (posted on Vista), please make sure you are addressing those.

Think about what questions I may ask you, what your responses will be and who will be answering them.

I am really looking forward to listening to your presentations and hearing all of your terrific ideas.

I added space for a few more students to Monday’s midterm review session so I moved the session to a bigger space.  The review will now be in room HA254.

For both Monday & Tuesday review sessions: please be sure to bring your laptops in order to review your midterm (I’ll also have a computer there).

Sauder is offering a fantastic opportunity in Brand Management and there is is a critical information session coming up on Thursday, March 8th. The time and location is 1:00-2:30 in HA 254.

I have uploaded a PDF that explains the mentorship program and a power point file with the date of the info session on to Vista.  If you go into the ‘Tools & Resources’ folder in Vista, you will find the files there.  Brand Management is an outstanding career path if you are interested in Marketing or general business management so this program is definitely worth checking out!

On Monday, Feb 27th at 9am, the iPeer Evaluation period opens.  For the instructions on the Team Evaluations, go to the Vista site  and click on ‘iPeer’ instructions.  The iPeer login link is near the instructions.  We will review more details in Monday’s class but you’ve got until Friday before midnight to complete the anonymous assessments of your team members.
