“A Journey into Time Immemorial” is an amazing interactive site that allows the user to virtually visit and explore the community of a traditional Sto:lo longhouse. This site was based on a real village near Mission, British Columbia and was created by Simon Fraser University.
By visiting this site, the user is able to have a lens into the traditional ways of life for this particular group of people. Food preservation, transportation, fishing, hunting, tools, clothing, cultural music, housing and a the importance of community are all beautifully represented. By experiencing this life in a virtual setting the user is also able to better develop empathy and a deeper sense of reality and understanding.
