Twine – Privacy and Security
This post involves using Twine as an introduction to non-linear storytelling, and chooses as its subject “Privacy and Security”.
Edit: Here is my twine story zipped in html format. For unpacking zips, see below. An Adventure into Privacy and Security for Teachers of Elementary School Students
My browser did not allow me to publish my Twine story, so I included the archive here. This adds many more steps to the process of viewing the Twine. You must:
- download the archive below
- unzip the archize, perhaps with 7zip or the unzipping program included with Windows 7 and up
- go to twinery
- click on import from file on the right side of the page
- and choose the unzipped html file

The twine briefly goes over :
- making sure to have anti-virus etc software installed on school digital technology
- making sure everyone knows and follows school rules and protocols about internet usage, information sharing, and website use
- School could use a digital code of conduct form that guide students and parents to understanding what computers are used for at school (https://nces.ed.gov/pubs2005/tech_suite/app_a.asp#H1) National Center for Education Statistics, Washington D.C.
- What resources are available to talk about privacy and security (in addition to Mediasmarts; and Michelle posted the below resources on the case 10 blog) about privacy education for kids from the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada (OPC). Includes higher grade level information about how to educate students about safely using digital tech. https://www.priv.gc.ca/en/about-the-opc/what-we-do/awareness-campaigns-and-events/privacy-education-for-kids/
