This session will explore the wide range of issues raised by using photos and images online, including basics of digital photography, editing and enhancing photos, using online photo sharing services such as Flickr, and finding freely licensed images for any occasion and republishing them. Special emphasis will be placed on the array of social software services that have sprung up to support digital photographers and image reusers. The uses and applications of mobile applications will also be introduced.

Brian Lamb is Manager, Emerging Technologies and Digital Content, with the Office of Learning Technology. He has also taught for UBC’s Master of Educational Technology Program. Brian maintains his weblog Abject Learning, where he mutters ill-tempered observations on social learning, open education, disruptive technologies, and other such things.

Jeff Miller is Senior Manger, Distance Learning, with the Office of Learning Technology. He teaches in UBC’s Master of Educational Technology Program, develops courses and programs for distance education, and is an avid, amateur photographer.

Novak Rogic is the Web Strategist with the Office of Learning Technology, leading web projects that emphasize sharing content and collaboration on the internet. He is also an amateur photographer.
